WHAT THIS IS
This is a template designed specifically for
use by UCLA College Bowl. Other
clubs are welcome to use this as a template, but note there are some parts of
this template that are only relevant to UCLA College Bowl.
HOW TO USE THIS
TEMPLATE
The stuff in black should be included in
every announcement. The stuff in
red should be filled out by whoever is sending the announcement, e.g. NAME OF
TOURNAMENT should be replaced by the actual name of the
tournament.

The UCLA College Bowl Club
is pleased to announce:

THIS IS A STANDARD HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT, THIS IS NOT NEEDED. FOR A HIGH SCHOOL JV TOURNAMENT, DEFINE
WHAT YOU MEAN BY JV. FOR A
COLLEGE/OPEN TOURNAMENT, DEFINE EXACTLY WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO
PLAY.
PRICING STRUCTURE:
Base fee = BASE FEE. IN THIS AREA IT IS TYPICALLY BETWEEN $90 AND $120,
WITH $100 THE STANDARD FOR TWAIN AND SIMILAR
TOURNAMENTS.
-$5 for a fully-functional
buzzer system (Must have at least four working buzzers on both sides) YOU MAY WANT TO RESTRICT THE NUMBER OF BUZZERS PER TEAM OR
PER SCHOOL; SEE BELOW FOR AN EXAMPLE
-$5 for a
functional countdown clock or timer (maximum of 3 per school, unless we contact
you about needing more) ONLY ADD THIS IF YOU’RE RUNNING A TIMED
TOURNAMENT
-$10 for a pre-approved
moderator
-$10 for the second team
from a school
-$20 for the third (or
additional) team from a school
+SOME ADDITIONAL
FEE OR NO FEE AT ALL if you wish to purchase a
copy of the questions after the tournament
Minimum fee = MINIMUM FEE FOR THE TOURNAMENT, TYPICALLY
$60
Please make checks payable
to "College Bowl Club of UCLA." Please do not make a check out to any other
person or entity, including "UCLA Quiz Bowl," as we cannot cash those checks. An
address will be provided shortly for those of you who wish to mail your checks
in advance. IN LIEU OF THE PREVIOUS SENTENCE, THE
TREASURER MAY PROVIDE HIS/HER ADDRESS IN THE INITIAL ANNOUNCEMENT WITH THE
FOLLOWING.

The cap is unofficially
going to be set at NUMBER OF CAP, USUALLY 20 OR 24
DEPENDING ON CLUB SIZE teams, but we will see about being able to
accommodate further teams. IF THERE ARE ANY PRIORITY RESTRICTIONS, NOTE THEM HERE (e.g.
TEAMS THAT HAVE/HAVEN’T QUALIFIED FOR A NATIONAL)

Updates about the tournament
will primarily be through the Southern California High School Quiz Bowl Mailing
List; however, they should also be posted online. Our club website is
http://quizbowl.bol.ucla.edu. A link should become available once this
announcement has been posted.
