The College Bowl Club of UCLA announces Aztlan Cup III: Something About Frigid Simians, to be held on March 10, 2007. We will be running a same-day mirror of Illinois’ Matt Cvijanovich Memorial Novice Tournament. The tournament director will be Dwight Wynne, who can be reached at dpwynne at ucla dot edu. Eligibility: Much like past TWAINs, all undergraduates will be allowed to play. Graduate students and non-students can play with the permission of the tournament director (i.e. ask first). High school teams are allowed to play but severely discouraged from doing so. Fees: Base Fee per team = $90 Buzzer -$5 Pre-approved moderator -$10 Second team discount -$10 Third team discount -$20 Nth team discount -$10(N-1) Acceptable packet by February 10: -$30 Minimum fee: $50 Packets: Because this is a mirror, we are not requiring teams to write packets; however, if you would like an additional discount, here is the distribution (copied from original announcement): History 4/4 Science 4/4 (no science biography, please - put that in "other academic" if you must write it) Literature 4/4 Religion/Mythology/Philosophy 3/3 Fine Arts 3/3 Geography 1/1 Social Science 1/1 Other Academic 3/3 (questions from any of the above areas, but no more than 2 from any one of them) Pop Culture/sports 2/2 (no more than 1/1 sports) Current Events 1/1 (please avoid "story-of-the-moment" questions) Total 26/26 Difficulty: The tournament difficulty should be at or below ACF Fall level.
